About The Eugene Yacht Club!

The Nationally known EYC, fifteen miles west from downtown Eugene Oregon, has a long history of supporting all aspects of sailing, maintains a Sailing School for beginners through advanced racing, and sponsors National Class racing.

The excellent wind and water conditions, the lack of current and commercial boat traffic, and the size and shape of Fern Ridge Lake allow the use of the standard Olympic circle racing course. This and the availability of camping on the grounds make EYC an ideal place for regattas and other organized sailing events.

The now famous Memorial Day Regatta, first held in 1945 with some 23 boats participating, is now limited to 150 boats with competitors from clubs from all over the West Coast. The Harvest Regatta in September draws up to 100 boats each year.

In recent years EYC has hosted the National Championships for the Coronado 15, Daysailer, Santana 20 and Thistle classes, the Laser North Americas, as well as many District regattas. EYC has also hosted Mallory Cup eliminations, and several West Coast Championships.

Club members are known for their hospitality and willingness to help fellow sailors with tips about local wind and sailing conditions and information to make racing an exciting and rewarding experience. They may be crazy and you may be ill-advised to listen to their "local knowledge," but they'll always be some of your best friends.

The Eugene Yacht Club has been featured in both Sunset Magazine and Sail Magazine, and hosted the U.S. Women's National Championship, the Adams Cup, in 1998.
